608- Jeff Bibik - Bar Magician Extraordinaire

608 banner.jpg

Jeff Bibik is a Chicago comedian and a magician. Originally from the Detroit, Michigan, area, he regularly performed magic in local restaurants and comedy clubs until 1985 when he moved to Chicago where he continued as a comedy magician in close-up and stage for the public and corporate audiences and he also performs a hypnosis act. Over the years he developed a large repertoire of jokes and gags that serves him well today as the house magician at the Chicago Magic Lounge.

Jeff Bibik pulls no punches this week in sharing the secrets behind getting work in restaurants performing magic, plus he tells lots of stories about working in bars and restaurants with a liberal sprinkling of funny gags, jokes and puns. This was recorded using StreamYard with Jeff joining us from the bar in his basement in his Chicago home. A video of our chat was also recorded and posted to YouTube. 598: Tim Wise - The Genie is Out!

598 banner.jpg

Las Vegas-based magician, Tim Wise, talks about 3-D printing, working with David Copperfield, leaving school to tour with Dennis Loomis, hosting Jeff McBride's "Wonderground", Abra.TV and more. Tim has so many stories that it was hard to keep this podcast to one hour as we could have easily spent the entirety of our conversation on any one subject.

Tim discusses how he came to become The Genie, thanks in large measure to Jeff McBride. But his humble beginnings in magic take him back to his teenage years when he basically “ran away with the circus” and pursued a career on the road touring with Dennis Loomis. Tim talks about that experience near the end of this episode that alone could have filled this whole episode with stories.

590: Charles Greene III - Collector, Baker, Magic Maker

590 banner.jpg

This week I reconnect with an old friend who used to live and perform in Houston , Texas, before moving to our nation’s capitol, Washington, D.C.. Charles Greene III was the single busiest restaurant performer in the early 1980;s in Houston with about a dozen restaurants per week. He literally wrote the book on working magic at restaurants. He then launched a successful career in trade shows which has been his “bread and butter” for many years that has taken him around the world. Along the way he got involved with collecting vintage magic posters and has become a noted baker of baguettes.

During our conversation this week, you can hear some noise in the background as Charles prepares his baguettes for the oven. He also tells us some of the steps he is going through before they are popped into the oven. During our conversation, Charles talks about his trade show work, his travels, his background in becoming an expert in magic posters, and his work on publishing a book on Ionia.
