721: Don Deich "Vlad" - Interview with a Vampire

Vampires never die. And they capture the zeitgeist of the Halloween season more than any other character. This week we feature a chat with Don Deich whose character as “Vlad” is more of a lifestyle than just a seasonal act. Vlad has been a friend for a few years and shows up (or should I say, “rises up”) periodically for magic conventions where he is featured with his rather spellbinding performances. Join us as we learn about the differences between “vampires” and what they truly do at night with their “free” time.

A two and a half hour audio broadcast in 2019 between Vlad and Laurie Notch (Paranormal World Magazine)

This “Interview with a Vampire” took place at night (of course) during the recent Poe’s Magic Conference in Baltimore, Maryland. During our chat, Vlad shares his penchant for horror movies and monster models, how he developed his character, how he puts together his outfits, and a peek into the underworld of nightclubs where like-minded vampires “hang out.”

720: Krystyn Lambert - Interview with a Witch

Some of you may remember Krystyn Lambert from performing as a Junior in some magic competitions, or her movies such as “Desperate Acts of Magic” or “Make Believe” or her appearances on TV shows shows like “Penn & Teller Fool Us” or “Masters of Illusion.” As an adult she has performed with Criss Angel in “The Supernaturalists” road tour and more recently she has been performing at the Chicago Magic Lounge and Mystique nightclubs. She recently completed a run at the Stanley Hotel in Colorado with her seance act.

This has all been a journey for Krystyn which has led her to where she is today. Oh, and did I mention that she is a witch?

In this week’s episode, Krystyn talks about what’s important in her life like horror movies, philosophical thought, her work with Criss Angel, character development and her transition into embracing and becoming a witch. A perfect Halloween holiday episode.

719: Kenton Knepper - Word Wizard

While attending the recent Poe’s Magic Conference in Baltimore, Maryland, one of the presenters was Kenton Knepper. We sat down in a quiet room for a very intense conversation that included his roots and moving to Phoenix, Arizona, and his friendship with noted mentalist, Larry Becker, plus his influences that led him to writing “Wonder Words” for which he is best known for as its author. Kenton has written about 20 different publications over the decades. We discussed NLP (Neurolinguistic Programming) and hypnosis and much more in this week’s episode. Kenton doesn’t often attend major magic conventions so it was a rare privilege to sit down with him for this episode this week.

John was a friend and inspiration to Kenton

In this week’s episode, Kenton talks about the development of his Wonder Words, what it is and how it works, his relationship and inspiration by Larry Becker. He also encourages us to go out and just do it, whatever “it” is and try it. Our conversation went quite deep and I was truly engaged in our conversation so much so that something happened at the end of this episode that has never happened in all my years. Be sure to stay tuned to end of our chat to hear what happened.

Kenton himself says: "KENTON PRINCIPLES is my legacy book. It compiles and expands on my most important principles in magic and mentalism. It will be the go-to book for the application of my ideas to anything you perform, magic or mentalism. Once you know these principles, anything is truly possible."
