025: I.B.M. Day Three - A "Nearly Lost Episode" from Dallas, TX

Day Three opens in the morning with a chat with local Dallas magician, Mica Calfee, who gives us his perspective of this convention as a first-time attendee. While walking through the Dealers' Room we stop to talk with an old mate, Simon Lovell. We discuss the quality of the shows and some of the performers and critique their performances. He also gives a rundown of the John Calvert Tribute at the recent Fantasma Convention in New York City.

During the Merlin Breakfast (for I.B.M. members and spouses who have had 25 years or more of consecutive membership) we sit down with Past I.B.M. President, Obie O'Brien and Logistics Chairman, Tom Vorjahan. We talk about the last evening's dinner show, some of the Big Four activities and the preparations for the "black box" theatres for the intimate close-up shows.

Past I.B.M. President, Don Wiberg, hosted the evening's dinner show as he introduced the I.B.M. officers and their spouses. Then he introduced Oscar Munoz who was the emcee for the after dinner show.

009: The Lost Episodes, Nov. 18, 2010: Bronner's Christmas Store, Tony's I-75 Restaurant and Marvin's Marvelous Mechanical Museum

Ride along with me as we visit some of Michigan's most colorful places. Bronner's Christmas Store is perhaps the world's largest of its kind with incredible selections of stuff I never knew existed. Then we go to Birch Run, MI to Tony's I-75 Restaurant where the Bacon, Lettuce and Tomatoe sandwiches are bigger than your head. Don't believe me? Then just look at the picture I uploaded here. Each BLT is made with one pound of bacon and their omlettes are made with a dozen eggs. We finish our day with a visit to Marvin's Marvelous Mechanical Museum that features dozens and dozens of vintage mechanical coin operated devices and lots of memorabilia and magic ephemera on the walls.

007: The Lost Episodes, Nov. 17, 2010 - Part One: Magical Midwestern Mystery Tour: Don Wiberg talks about his experience aboard David Sandy's aborted Magic Cruise

During the past few years I have been a regular contributor to The Magic Newswire. I have posted convention reviews and irregular updates of some of my magical adventures. Over the past year due to time constraints of the producer of The Magic Newswire, several of my episodes have gotten pushed back until they were no longer timely; however, they are still no less relevant and (I think) interesting. I have chatted with several people whose opinions, outlooks and philosophies are important and who deserve a public platform.

That said, I will be posting several episodes here that were recorded for The Magic Newswire but are part of the "Lost Episodes". This first podcast was recorded on November 17, 2010. It is my  arrival to Chicago and interview with I.B.M. International Past President and current International Secretary, Don Wiberg. He had just returned from David Sandy's "Magic Cruise" that was aborted after the first day. He provides a positive and interesting perspective.
