452: Playing Around with John Archer

452 banner.jpg

John Archer visited our shores in between dates on a comedy tour of the U.K. with Tim Vine. John performed and lectured at the Texas Association of Magicians and also stopped by my home the night before to enjoy a martini or two. While here, he regaled us with some impromptu playing of his ukulele. The next day before the T,A,O,M, conventinn began, we sat down for a wonderfully enlightening conversation about many things including him being the first to “fool” Penn & Teller on their show when it was broadcast in the U.K.

See John Archer play some of the music you hear on The Magic Word Podcast at: https://www.themagicwordpodcast.com/scottwellsmagic/452-john-archer

427: Geoff Williams - The Man Behind The Hand

427 banner.jpg

Geoff Williams is a funny guy. Many of the best comedians are "naturally" funny, or so it would seem. Geoff seems to me to have that quality. As to the title of this week's podcast it comes from the many pictures I have seen of Geoff with someone's hand waving in front of his face. But Geoff is the funny man behind the waving hands. He also posts daily puns on his Facebook page which is worth visiting each day just to start your day with a smile.

232: FISM Italy - Day One

Well, here we go, day one of the six day (and night) congress. After arriving a week early flying into Milan and traveling to Stresa for a couple nights, to Padova for a couple more then ending in Padova, we traveled to Rimini to check in for the International Championships.

Day one was filled with stage and close-up contests and plenty of lectures from dawn to, well, almost dawn the next day. My favorite so far for stage illusion was Mag Edgar from Spain and for manipulation (and maybe the Grand Prix) Lee Chang Min from the Republic of Korea.
