608- Jeff Bibik - Bar Magician Extraordinaire

Jeff Bibik is a Chicago comedian and a magician. Originally from the Detroit, Michigan, area, he regularly performed magic in local restaurants and comedy clubs until 1985 when he moved to Chicago where he continued as a comedy magician in close-up and stage for the public and corporate audiences and he also performs a hypnosis act. Over the years he developed a large repertoire of jokes and gags that serves him well today as the house magician at the Chicago Magic Lounge.

Jeff Bibik pulls no punches this week in sharing the secrets behind getting work in restaurants performing magic, plus he tells lots of stories about working in bars and restaurants with a liberal sprinkling of funny gags, jokes and puns. This was recorded using StreamYard with Jeff joining us from the bar in his basement in his Chicago home. A video of our chat was also recorded and posted to YouTube. 607 - Allan Kronzek - Grandpa Magic Teacher

Author, creator, teacher and grandpa, Allan Kronzek has a lifetime of magic to share. He and his daughter wrote encyclopedic books about the Harry Potter canon and well known in the book business. Living in Sag Harbor, New York, (Long Island area), Allan is a performing magician to the well-to-do community as well as the common folk. He is also an accomplished teacher of magic to youth in his area. He recently completed a book for the public, “Grandpa Magic” which is widely available and is intended for adults to help their children and grand-children to learn magic.

In this week’s episode, Allan Kronzek talks about his writing background, how he got published, how he structures his magic classes, where he performs magic, and the details behind the scenes that he hasn’t shared before this podcast.

584: Patrick Thernes - Call Me Sir Pat Trick

Sir Pat Trick came on the radar of most magicians at the 2013 MAGIC Live! convention when the late Joanie Spina gave a presentation about developing a stage persona. By example, she showed a video of one of her students who had submitted a video then she introduced us to Patrick Thernes who performed a completely different act with a totally new character. The transformation was evident and it led to Patrick achieving his lifelong goal of performing at the Magic Castle.

Patrick Thernes is today a performing magician but not with the same act we saw. He has also scaled back his performances in favor of producing and consulting other magicians and theater owners/producers.
