Midwest Magic Jubilee Day 3 Photos 2012

The final day of the 56th MMJ brought even more last day registrants to the convention. Perhaps they saw and heard what they were missing by getting these daily updates! The morning opened with an excellent lecture by Chris Capehart. He spoke about working the streets and tips on the linking rings.

Scott Alexander lectured on stand-up magic with several great ideas for openers, plus some excellent close-up tricks, too.

Last but not least of the lecturers was the king of the levitation, Losander. He gave us some ideas for using invisible thread and bubbles and more.

The close-up show featured seven performers with dramatically different styles and all quite excellent.

The evening gala was a packed house with at least two-thirds of the audience being laymen. Michael Finney was the MC and the acts included Ferrell Dillon, Scott Alexander and Losander.

After the show, the registrants retired to the Dealers' Room for a Farewell Party.

065: Midwest Magic Jubilee Day 2 Podcast

On the first full day of fun at the Midwest Magic Jubilee, I chatted with the guys who are the heartbeat of all conventions...the registration desk. I spoke with Larry Skorepa, Gerald Collins and Daniel Todd. I caught up with the President, Terry Richison, for his perspective of how things were going and some of the hurdles he had to overcome for this year's convention. During an interval in the close-up contest, I opened the microphone to get a perspective from some of the registrants. During an evening soiree, I chatted with Scott Alexander and Ferrell Dillon. Scott talked about his experience on "America's Got [sic] Talent". While were on the topic of television and "reality" shows, I then turned the wandering microphone to Andrew Martin who was featured along with his family on the network series, "Wife Swap". I think you'll enjoy these chats.

Registrants and hotel guests were all greeted with the cheerful Midwest Magic Jubilee sign in the lobby near the elevators.

Michael Finney's lecture was a "no holds barred" bare look at his life and how he became a comedy magician. He laid his soul bare and left no secrets in his closet as he opened his soul to the captive audience who literally sat at his feet.
Michael had brisk lecture sales with proceeds going towards his charities.
The registrants enjoyed the afternoon close-up contest. Some of them shared their opinion of the convention in the podcast posted elsewhere on this site.
Dan Garrett presented the premiere of his new lecture "Forward Into the Past" with a nice twist to the usual lecture formula. It was quite enjoyable with lots of close-up and stand-up treats.
